MEET SHAWDI SPENCER

IT ALL BEGINS WITH YOU.
My concept of healing is to help my clients thrive rather than just survive. I am dedicated to helping clients effectively release and change negative core beliefs, undesirable patterns and resolve old issues that keep them from moving forward in individual or couples therapy.
I assist to reduce shame in clients and empower them to re-write the story of their lives, past, present, and future. I will work with each client's pace, because ultimately the process of therapy is one that is as individualized as you are.

OUR TIMELINE
2016
After working at multiple non-profit mental health centers and private therapy group practices in Los Angeles I decided to start my own private practice due to the lack of modern approaches and barriers to therapy.
2020
During the height of the Pandemic I continued to provide stability for my clients in the most uncertain times in modern history. I provided therapy sessions via telehealth including video or phone sessions to maintain social distancing practices
2021
Providing individual and couples therapy via online, telephone and in-person appointments. Open to new referrals while maintaining a full caseload
I AM A LICENSED PSYCHOTHERAPIST BECAUSE IT PROVIDES ME WITH A DEEP SENSE OF SATISFACTION TO BE ABLE TO HELP OTHERS THROUGH CHALLENGING TIMES IN THEIR LIVES.
From a young age, I was that friend that everyone sought out for advice.
I earned my Master of Clinical Social Work with a concentration in mental health from the University of Southern California in 2015 and I have been in practice ever since.
I focus on adults of any age, as well as elders over 65. I am allied with LGBTQ+, and those with HIV/AIDS, body positivity, and racial justice concerns. I provide both individual and couples’ therapy. I have extensive training in treating anxiety, depression, narcissistic abuse, marital/relationship issues, grief and loss, and trauma.

I ALSO PROVIDE THERAPY FOR THOSE MAKING STRESSFUL LIFE TRANSITIONS, SEEKING A MORE BALANCED LIFESTYLE, AS WELL AS THOSE WITH PERFECTIONISTIC TENDENCIES, OR THOSE IN NEED OF SELF-CONFIDENCE AND GREATER SELF-AWARENESS.
Together, we can examine how your thoughts and emotions are impacting your daily life in either helpful or unhelpful ways. What I love about this work is that I am able to inspire individuals to improve their life circumstances.
I like to get at the underlying issues. With depression, for example, you can treat the symptoms, but depression doesn’t go away if you don’t understand the problems beneath the surface. I’ll dive deeper and ask what’s really making you depressed. Maybe it’s something from your childhood that you have never explored.
I utilize evidence-based therapies to help people gain insight and mend any residual grief from previous painful events that may be impacting current thoughts, beliefs, and patterns of behavior. I integrate a variety of approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Problem Solving Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, psychodynamic, and mindfulness techniques. I strive to help you improve relationships with yourself and others.
My treatment style is individualized and collaborative, while providing a warm, inviting space with the opportunity to self-reflect. I find that both challenge and encouragement helps individuals make optimal changes. I will work with you at your pace, because ultimately the process of therapy is one that is as individualized as you are.
